The Intermediate Certificate is a great way for people considering a career in wine – or for anyone who has a serious interest in the subject – to broaden their knowledge. It requires no previous wine studies. Intermediate Certificate covers the wines and spirits of the world in 8 sections taught over five evenings in Boston and over one weekend in Maine. The course concludes with a one-hour multiple-choice examination. Intermediate focuses on how to professionally taste wine, the factors that influence style, quality and price, and goes into depth on all of the major grape varieties and wine types. It also covers the basic spirits of the world. Wine tasting is a part of every class with over 40 wines tasted in total. Successful candidates receive the globally recognized Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Intermediate Certificate.
